Transport for bedridden and stretcher patients: how it works

Transport for bedridden patients

When a patient can't travel seated, they need transport equipped to carry them lying down, safely. Ambula provides this type of non-emergency transport for appointments, exams, treatments, discharges or moves between home, hospital and care home.

What options are available

  • Standard stretcher — for patients who need to travel lying down.
  • Coquille (scoop) stretcher — for situations requiring greater immobilisation and support.
  • Wheelchair — for those who travel seated but with reduced mobility.
  • Oxygen and assistance, when needed.

What the team guarantees

Transporting a bedridden patient calls for care when lifting, positioning and throughout the journey. The Ambula team is trained to do this with safety and dignity, with attention to the person's comfort and to keeping the family informed.

How to book

When booking, let us know the patient is bedridden or needs a stretcher, so we send the right vehicle and equipment. You can book online, via the free line 800 319 001 or on WhatsApp. In an emergency, call 112.
